Host nation Morocco on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, clinched the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON trophy for the third consecutive time as they trashed Angola 5-1 in the final at the Priniice Moulay Abdellah Hall.

Morocco, with the sixth-man advantage at the hall cheering them on, gave out some mouthwatering performances, which stun the momentum of the Angola fans present at the Priniice Moulay Abdellah Hall.

Claiming their third consecutive title, Morocco joins Egypt as the only team to win the prestigious Futsal AFCON three times. These two North African countries have been remarkably consistent in all the futsal tournaments they have played, putting their pedigree as one of the best teams up there.

Morocco suffocated their opponent right from the start as they constantly pressed the Sable Antelopes, which saw them take the lead in the sixth minute with a brilliant goal from Soufiane Borite. Angola responded in no time as they got an equaliser through Aderito Santo, who calmly slotted the ball into the net.

The match gradually intensified as both sides fought to grab the next goal before the break, but Morroco eventually got themselves back into the lead as Idriss Raiss El Fenni scored to ease any pressure moving forward. A few minutes into halftime, Captain El Mesrar secured a two-goal advantage for his side with a wonderful goal.

A very comprehensive display from the Atlas Lions saw them add two vital goals from Anas El Ayyane and Bilal Bakkali to secure the title on home soil.

Morocco’s wonderful exploits in the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON will see them represent Africa in the Futsal World Cup, which will be staged in Uzbekistan later this year. They will also be joined by Angola and Libya.
