Club Brugge and Ghana Black Stars Defender, Dennis Odoi, has expressed disappointment on Ghana’s 61st ranking on FIFA’s radar.
The Black Stars of Ghana are among the least expected team to make an impact in the ongoing World Cup Tournament in Qatar. Ghana enters the Tournament as the lowest-ranked team participating in the Tournament this year.
Speaking to Journalists, Odoi who has his first World Cup appearance with the Black Stars said the position of the team does not give any motivation, but, the team is focused on winning every game.
“It doesn’t give any more motivation but we are here to play our game and we want to win and as a team, we want to represent Ghana”, he said.
According to Odoi, the journey has been positive, despite past poor performances of the team over the decade in the African Cup of Nations and this he says has really shaped the team.
Though the team is full of inexperienced players, Odoi is optimistic, with the exposure some of the players have in the Champion’s League and the Europa League will come to play and help the team win their games.
The Black stars of Ghana come up against Portugal in their opening match of Group H in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at 4pm.
