Ghana’s Senior National Team, the Black Stars, will this afternoon come face-to-face with the Tigers of South Korea in the second Group H match of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The match will be played at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan with kick-off time at 1 p.m. Ghana Time.
The Stars lost their first game against Portugal by three goals to two in controversial circumstances while South Korea played out a goalless draw with Uruguay in the other Group Match.
This put Portugal ahead in the Group with three points, with South Korea and Uruguay at one point apiece and Ghana propping up the Group Table with no points.
Today’s game is consequently seen as a make-or-break affair, with the Black Stars having a huge responsibility to win the game to enhance their chances of qualifying for the next round of the competition.
At a news conference at the Qatar National Convention Centre yesterday, Coach Otto Addo said the Group is an equal one but tipped Portugal to pick the first ticket, saying it looks like Portugal is ahead of the rest of the Group to progress. He, however, added that the Stars will do their best to ensure qualification to the next stage.
He said they will need the commitment of each and every one to ensure this.
Meanwhile, Coach Otto Addo says fans should expect a passionate team like what was seen in the Black Stars’ first game. He says he is a hundred percent sure that the boys know it is a big stage and everyone is hungry to play, so they will put in their best. He announced that the guys are all training well and making it difficult for him to make decisions. He insists that the boys will show passion in today’s game. A win for Ghana against South Korea will serve as a huge boost for their qualification hopes, after losing their opening game against Portugal.
