Otto Addo on verge of making history with Black Stars, let’s support him – Kwesi Nyantakyi

Immediate Past President of the Ghana Football Association, GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, says newly appointed Head Coach for the Black Stars, Otto Addo, is on a brink of history by qualifying the senior national football team, the Black Stars to the World Cup.  He said qualifying Ghana to the World Cup makes Otto Addo, the first former Black Star player to qualify his former team to the global football fiesta.

“I believe that Otto Addo, is on the verge of making history if he qualifies Ghana to the World Cup. He will be the first Black Stars player of this generation to qualify the team to the World Cup as a Head coach and I believe it will bring a lot of dignity”

Mr Nyantakyi was speaking on a GBC panel discussion on football, code named “saving our passion” The programme which brought together   former GFA presidents was a knowledge sharing platform for Ghana to assume its pride of place in world football.   Other past GFA presidents on the panel included, Nana Sam Brew Butler who served as the GFA president between 1993-1997, Lepowura Alhaji NMD Jawula, 1997- 2001. The others were Togbui (Dr) Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, 2004-2005 and Kwasi Nyantakyi, 2005-2018.

Mr. Nyantakyi, who is currently the longest GFA President in the Association’s, history, having served thirteen years, said Otto Addo‘s appointment as Head Coach, brings honour,  dignity and pride to him, his family and country.  He said for him to have a successful career as Coach of the Black Stars, he must be given a free hand to operate, adding Ghanaians, especially the media must give him and his team the necessary support.

“This time as citizens of our country, it behooves all of us to rally behind them spiritually, morally, whatever we can do let us support this team”.

Mr. Nyantakyi, took a swipe at people who claim Ghana lacks talented players, saying with motivation from Ghanaians the team can qualify to the World Cup.

“If we get the right players and just motivate them, handled by these technical team I have no doubt we will qualify.
