Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has asked for additional backroom staff following a meeting with the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The 47-year-old coach met with the GFA leadership to review the team’s technical report after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
During the meeting, Addo reportedly explained the reasons behind the team’s poor performance in the qualifiers. Ghana finished last in Group F, managing only three points from six games and failing to win a single match. This marks the first time in 20 years that Ghana has missed out on the AFCON tournament.
Looking ahead, Addo has requested more support staff as the team prepares for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which resume in March 2025 with matches against Chad and Madagascar.
Currently, Addo is supported by assistants John Paintsil, Joseph Laumann, and Fatawu Dauda. Despite the AFCON failure, reports suggest that he is likely to retain his position as head coach.
The GFA is yet to make an official decision regarding Addo’s future.
