Partey isn’t injured – GFA Communications Director clarifies absence of Black Stars captain

Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director for the GFA, addressed the situation surrounding Partey’s absence from the national team in an interview with Asempa FM, shedding light on the reasons behind his dropout.

Contrary to circulating rumours, Asante Twum clarified that Partey is not suffering from an injury but is, in fact, unwell. The specific details of his illness remain undisclosed, adding an element of uncertainty to the situation.

“Thomas Partey isn’t injured but rather ill. He is sick and not injured, as speculations suggest. It isn’t malaria, and I can’t disclose the kind of illness he is suffering from at the moment,” he stated.

In the wake of Partey’s unavailability, the GFA made a strategic decision to call up Michael Baidoo, who will be stepping into the spotlight for the first time. This unexpected opportunity for Baidoo has piqued the interest of football enthusiasts, eager to see how the newcomer will perform under pressure.

As the Black Stars gear up for their matches against Sudan, the focus now shifts to how the team will adapt to these changes. The absence of a key player like Partey presents both challenges and opportunities for the team to demonstrate resilience and adaptability.

Ghana will host Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10, before traveling to the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya for the return leg on October 15.
