Former football star Raphaël Varane joined the board of Como in 1907, marking a new step in his career after retiring from professional football. In his new role, Varane will help the club by advising on youth development, education, and product innovation.
Following the announcement on the 19th of October 2024, Raphaël Verane will work closely with Osian Roberts, the club’s Head of Development, and Juliette Bolon, who leads the Education Program. His goal is to help young players not only improve their football skills but also prepare for life after football through academic and vocational training. This approach aims to benefit the community as well.
Beyond working with young athletes, Varane will also advise the club on product development. This includes using technology to improve digital platforms, data analysis, and ticketing systems, helping Como 1907 enhance its connection with fans.
Mirwan Suwarso, a representative from the club, said, “We are excited to have Raphaël on board. His experience and passion for youth and education fit well with our future goals. We believe he will bring valuable insights to our team.”
Varane expressed his excitement about the new role, saying, “Moving from playing football to working off the field is not the end of my journey; it’s a new beginning. I’m looking forward to helping shape the future of the sport and supporting Como’s growth.”
The addition of Varane to the board reflects Como 1907’s commitment to long-term development, blending the club’s history with a focus on growth and innovation. This new chapter is expected to bring fresh energy to the club’s plans for football, education, and technology.
