Ghana’s pain in losing out medal got doubled following the inability of Joel Asare to win the bronze medal in the Freestyle Football competition on Sunday evening.

Joel set the whole arena ablaze with his dazzling skills to beat off competition from Algeria in the quarter finals before setting a date with host nation Cape Verde in the semi -finals where he shockingly lost to the amazement of the crowd who got entertained by his sumptuous skills.

In his attempt to redeem his image in the bronze medal contest against Algeria, he surprisingly lost by 2-1. The first judge went in favor of the Ghanaian whiles the other two judges scored for the Algerian extending Ghana’s chase for a medal in the ongoing championship.

“I did my best but it wasn’t enough in the eyes of the judges. I’m happy with my performance because I finished 4th in both categories and this has given me the experience ahead of the African championship in Nigeria,” disappointed freestyle football athlete, Joel Asare, said to Team media officer Michael Okuley after his event.

The West African side would now have to rely on Beach Volleyball and 3 aside Basketball for medals which are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday respectively to restore their pride in the contest.

Team Ghana’s participation in the maiden edition of the African Beach Games was sponsored by Toyota Ghana, Ashfoam Ghana Limited, Allied Oil and Republic Bank.
