Football fans in Ghana went all out on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, to save Ghana football as they embarked on a peaceful protest from the Obra spot in Circle to the Black Stars Square, where majority poured out their frustration over the ill state of football in Ghana.

Petitions concerning this protest were presented to the Ghana Football Association, the Ministry of Sports, and the Parliament of Ghana to ensure Ghana football is given a critical look going forward. Fans were poised to deliver these petitions as they had been waiting for a long time.

The team lead of the “Save Ghana Football” protest managed to get the concerns delivered to some of the leaders of football in Ghana. Sports journalists like Saddick Adams, Veronica Commey, and Patrick Osei Agyemang were integral to delivering these strong concerns surrounding Ghana football.

The protesters showed a high level of not letting go as they demonstrated passionately in front of Parliament House, demanding proper measures be taken to revive Ghana’s declining football federation.

The Black Stars have been shameful in all the tournaments they have participated in since 2019, highlighting their key failures in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The senior national team has lost its identity in the AFCON since they last progressed to the round of 16 in 2017. Since then, the Black Stars have become a group-stage team, leaving them to exist at the group stage in all their tournaments since 2019.

Following this unacceptable situation, the Kurt Okraku-led Ghana Football Association has decided to arrange a five-man committee who are expected to go out and search for a new coach. Kurt’s administration has appointed four coaches since he took power.

This committee has looked shaky as football fans aren’t willing to accept the people who are expected to lead the charge in getting a new Black Stars coach.
