The Bantwana Bantwana of South Africa cheered the Black Maidens to victory as Ghana won their final group game against New Zealand at the Estadio Charrua in Montevideo.

The Black Maidens completed a perfect 3 match winning streak against the Kiwis of New Zealand in their final group game at the 2018 U-17 Women’s World cup courtesy 2 goals from Skipper Abdullai Mukarama.

This is the first time in six appearances the Maidens have won all 3 of their group matches. The Maidens stand as the team with most points secured, most goals scored and fewer goals conceded.

Coach Evans Adotey maintained the squad that won 3-1 against Finland while the Kiwis made 8 changes in their starting 11.

The maidens made 31 attempts at goal which indicated how dangerous they were in the opponent’s box.

In an interesting twist of events, the Bantwana of South Africa who had been urged out of the tournament cheered the Maidens to victory with different chants.

This however, was the first time the Ghanaians have enjoyed any form of support from the stands during the game.

Ghana who finish top of Group A will compete with Mexico on Sunday November 25, 2018 as New Zealand slugs it out with Japan. Grace Animah was adjudged player of the match.
