The University of Ghana Stadium, which recently hosted the prestigious 13th African Games, has been tipped to host the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup final, with an indication that it is the perfect stadium to host this year’s Cup final in style.

The decision to consider the newly built 11, 000-capacity stadium as the best venue for the final was disclosed by Mr. Wilson Arthur, the MTN FA Cup Committee chairman. Mr. Wilson Arthur explained the procedure to how the semi-final and final will come off. He mentioned that all semifinal matches will be held at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Mr. Wilson Arthur outlined that the initial decision was to host both the final and the semifinal at the newly built Tarkwa T N A Stadium and Legon Stadium, but plans to put the T N A Stadium in shape to get it ready for the semifinals didn’t materialise early.

“After further discussions, we changed our original plan to hold the semi-final and final at the newly constructed Tarkwa T N A Stadium and Legon Stadium, respectively. However, the T.N.A. Stadium was not ready.

We thought about going to Samreboi, but after some consultations, we decided that going to the Volta [region] would be more helpful, so we went back to our backup plan, which was Sogakope,” said Mr. Wilson Arthur.

He also mentioned that if both the semifinal and final could take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, it would be a good thing moving forward, but the University of Ghana Sports Stadium only stands a chance of hosting the final this year.

“We would like to choose that location for the competition’s semifinal and final rounds going forward, pending ExCco approval,” he added.

Nsoatreman FC will challenge Legon Cities on Saturday, May 11, 2024, while Bofoakwa Tano lock horns with Dreams FC on Sunday, May 12, 2024, for a spot in the final.
