The third edition of the much anticipated Tariq Lamptey Foundation Cup took the stage on 23rd December, 2023 at the La McDan Astroturf in Accra.
The competition which was organised by Black Stars and the Brighton left-back seeks to grow talents from the under-15 level.
Four under-15 teams started the knockout stage of the tournament which eventually saw two sides emerging victorious into the finals. The first semi-finals between defending champions, Soccer Angles and Taking Over FC ended in favour of Taking Over FC on penalties.
The tournament got interesting and intense as the second semifinals gave the football fans around with some goals as Krowor Youth beat Trust FC to comfortably book their spot in the semifinals. The two semifinal matches gave the audience a glimpse of what to expect in the finals.
The finals started with Krowor Youth dominating the proceedings by scoring first. The game got pumped up when Trust FC equalised by a goal from Guan who capitalized on a mistake by the goalkeeper of Krowor Youth.
The match was finally settled on penalties after both sides failed to capitalize on their chances to grab a comfortable victory. The penalty save saw Taking Over goalkeeper, Emmanuel Owusu “taking over” the post in a commanding style by making vital saves to win his team the trophy.
