As part of activities to mark the commencement of the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games, Team Ghana has moved to the athletes’ Games Village on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. In a very short ceremony, the first batch of the team welcomed their para-cycling colleagues who joined them on Wednesday from Ghana where they had their pre-game preparations.
The para-cycling event is spearheaded by Frederick Asor in the sprint and individual track event piloted by Benjamin Boahene Agyeman.
“The Paralympic team of Ghana has landed at the Paris 2024 Games Village today. We hope to have enough time to adjust quickly to help our preparations when the Games start. We are determined to make a huge impact in the games”
“We have 4 members para-cycling team that arrived today. In all we have 12 athletes at the Games Village and 3 team leaders in a hotel throughout the period. Gradually, getting ready for the event”
Ghana is making her 6th appearance in the Summer Games after making its debut at the global event in 2004 in Athens.
The 10-day global event from August 28 – September 8, 2024, will see Ghana competing in four disciplines including Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Para-Cycling, and Para Taekwondo.
The Paralympic Team is chasing its first podium appearance for a medal after appearing 6 successful participations. Ghana has a contingent of 16 including officials and athletes for the games expected to get underway next week.
