The Paramount Chief of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed concerns about the community’s readiness to support sports development initiatives in the region.

The Agbogbomefia bemoaned the challenges of establishing sports facilities and programs due to the lack of preparedness within the communities.

Speaking at the 2024 Asogli State Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day at the GM Afeti Auditorium, Ho Technical University, as part of the Asogli State Yam festival celebration, Togbe Afede XIV emphasized that sports development is not easy, it requires the readiness of the people to see the opportunity and make use of it.

“Sports is not an easy business to be involved in, Sports is a tough business,” Togbe said.

“The challenge is that we need to be convinced that when we try to do things here we have enough people showing interest to make the sacrifice worth it”, he stated.

“Sometimes we are a little bit apathetic if our young people are willing to be very serious, of course, that will inspire us to do what we want to do” he added.

The Agbogbomefia mentioned the possibility of establishing a sports academy in the region but stressed that community readiness was crucial.

He reiterated the need for young people to work harder to achieve their sports goals.

“If I were a sportsman I would work like crazy, so the question is are we ready to take up the challenge?”

“If somebody comes here to invest in a sports facility it’s not easy but these things will be considered. I’ve been thinking about how one can build an academy here,” he said.

“It is not easy to break even not alone to through and make a profit from some of these projects we need to be inspired by the readiness of our people to seize opportunities like that with both hands” He stated.

The Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Day was aimed at empowering young people and promoting entrepreneurship in the region. It brought together young Inspiring speakers to help shape the career path of young individuals.

Togbe Afede’s vision for the development of Asogli state and Ghana as a whole includes initiatives that foster economic growth, cultural preservation, and social progress.
