President Akufo-Addo has joined many Ghanaians in praying for the safety of former Chelsea and Newcastle forward Christian Atsu, who has reportedly been trapped under rubble caused by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey.
The powerful earthquakes and aftershocks caused widespread devastation in Turkey and Syria, killing thousands on Monday.
In a tweet, the President expressed hope that Atsu will be found safe.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the survivors, and we pray that our fellow Ghanaian, Christian Atsu, is found safe and sound.”
He also extended his sympathies and those of Ghanaians to the people of Turkey and Syria.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Governments and peoples of Turkey and Syria on the devastation and the tragic loss of lives occasioned by Monday’s earthquake. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”

Meanwhile, more than 10 search-and-rescue teams from the European Union had been mobilised since the earthquake, a spokesperson for the European Commission said.
World leaders have also expressed grief over the devastation caused by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
