Timothy Tarpeh Weah, the son of Legendary Footballer, Ballon d’Or winner, and Liberia President George Weah, made a bold statement by scoring the opening goal for the USA at the Qatar World Cup I match against Wales at the Ahmed Bin Ali stadium on Monday, November 21, 2022.
The 22-year-old capitalised on a pass from Christian Pulisic to make a firm first-time finish, putting the USA ahead of Wales just past the half-hour mark.
However, a penalty shootout from Gareth Bale on the Wales side brought the match to a 1:1 draw.
Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 club Lille winger continues to top the sports headlines as GTV Sports+ throws the spotlight on him on the Qatar Update Show as the first United States international player born in the 2000s to score at the World Cup. He also becomes the fifth-youngest scorer in US men’s national team history.Timothy has 25 appearances on the USA national team, scoring three goals and assisting two.
According to SportStar, the forward was spoilt for choice to play for four teams- France, Jamaica, Liberia, and the United States but he chose the latter because that is where he grew up.
The former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player appeared to have achieved a lot for his young age.
Should the world expect another George Weah of our time?
