Cameroon 17-year-old Wilfried Nathan Douala got the internet buzzing before the Africa Cup of Nations even began as he became the youngest player in the 34th edition of the AFCON.
The young player who plays his club football in Cameroon with Victoria United has got people talking about his age and how it doesn’t tally with his appearance.
According to reports, Wilfried Nathan Douala was born in 2006, which qualifies him to be 17 years old, but majority of people and football followers around the world find it difficult to comprehend this situation.
Wilfried Nathan Douala made the Cameroonian squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations but barely got a chance to represent his national team. He was sidelined on the bench for most of the games.
Although Wilfried was nowhere to be found on the pitch at the AFCON 2023, he was caught in the company of Ivorian football icon Didier Drogba as they took some beautiful pictures together.
Wilfried Nathan Douala encounter with Drogba speaks volume of the huge attention he has received from football fans around the world, particularly concerning his age saga. The 17-year-old has received huge praise from Samuel Eto’o, who referred to him as one of the best young talents in Africa.
