Ghana bagged its first medal at the 13th African Games as Winnifred Ntumi gave out a dazzling performance in the weightlifting event as she snatched silver in the women’s 49 kg competition.

Winnifred went against all odds to get Ghana’s first medal as she competed against Ny Hasina Andrimitantsoa Zo Lalainarinirina of Madagascar, Tunisia’s Tasnim Ben Wada, and Sheridane Pasnin of Mauritius, placing second.

In the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Ghana, interestingly, won three medals. With her industrious charisma to win more medals for Ghana, Winnifred has proven that she won’t be slowing down anytime soon.

Egypt continues to lead the medal table with 39 medals won so far, followed by their North African counterparts Algeria with 26 and South Africa with 13, while Ghana joins Uganda, Botswana, and Cameroon on the single medal list.
