It was a week of interesting pairings in the Ghana Women’s Premier League (WPL). Hasaacas Ladies and Tamale Super Ladies have hit the ground running, but for Police Ladies the marathon has just begun.
The start may not justify the end as they have a point and have scored a goal after match day 2.
Hasaacas Ladies gave debutants Essiams Socrates a befitting welcome to the top-flight women’s competition by annihilating them 6-2. Hasaacas new signing Fidous Yakubu marked her maiden appearance with a brace as Success Ameyaa, Doris Boaduawaa, Veronica Kuma Baah and Doreen Copson added a goal each, while Fuseini Afasatu and Frederica Kai scored a goal each to decrease the goal deficit for Essiam Socrates.
Meanwhile, defending champions Ampem Darkoa rose to the occasion in their derby game against Prisons Ladies. Ophelia and Mary Amponsah both registered their names on the scoresheet for the away team on this day.
