Ghana’s quest for a medal in the ongoing Paralympic Games has been greatly boosted following Zinabu Issah’s qualification for the Women’s Sitting Discus Throw finals. Zinabu covered a distance of 24.39 meters to pick a slot for Ghana in the finals of F57 Women’s Discuss in the ongoing Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The feat put her in the 3rd position after J da Silva from Brazil, who finished 1st and E. Vetokhina of Russia.

With the strongest desire to win a medal, Ghana’s Zinabu Issah is expected to overcome the world’s top-ranked athletes when they meet for the F57 Discus Throw finals on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Stade de France.

Meanwhile, Frederick Assor, piloted by Rudolf Mensah, clocked a time of 6:30.071 to finish 16th in the overall rankings in the heat of the Men’s B 4000m Individual Pursuit Qualifying in the Para Cycling Track event. This result ends his progress in the event due to his inability to finish amongst the top 4.

The riders with the two fastest times raced for gold, which was won by Tristan Bangma from the Netherlands, and silver, won by Britain’s Stephen Bate, while the next two fastest riders also rode for bronze, which was won by Bernard Lorenzo from Italy.

In the other discipline, Patricia Kyerema will open her Paralympic campaign as she faces Eleni Papastamtopoulou from Greece in round 16 of Women’s K44 +65kg of Para-Taekwondo on Saturday morning.
