African Paralympic Committee congratulates newly elected and first female IOC President

The African Paralympic Committee has extended its warmest congratulations to Kirsty Coventry, the newly elected President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Coventry, a former Olympic swimming champion from Zimbabwe, made history by becoming the first female and African to hold the prestigious position.

In a statement, the African Paralympic Committee praised Coventry’s leadership, dedication and vision for the Olympic Movement, describing them as “truly remarkable and commendable.” The committee expressed its confidence in Coventry’s ability to inspire athletes across the globe and promote inclusivity, accessibility and excellence in sports.
