The stage is set for an exciting showdown as the Ghana Basketball Federation has officially announced the groups for the inaugural 2025 3X3 Basketball Championship.

A total of 42 Senior High Schools will battle it out in both the Boys’ and Girls’ categories, with 18 schools competing in the Girls’ Division and 24 in the Boys’ Division.

The tournament, scheduled to run from Thursday, April 10 to Saturday, April 12, will take place at the Trust Sports Emporium in Bukom, Accra. This condensed version of basketball promises fast-paced action and intense competition.

In the Boys’ Division, Groups D and B have emerged as the most competitive, featuring some of Ghana’s basketball powerhouses. Group D includes Adisadel College, Prempeh College, Accra Academy, and Ghana Senior Technical School — all known for their strong basketball traditions. Group B is equally stacked, with PRESEC-Legon, Keta Senior High Technical School, Tamale Senior High School, and Mfantsipim School vying for dominance. These groups are expected to produce some of the most thrilling matchups of the tournament.

The Girls’ Division is also set to see fierce competition, with Group B standing out as the strongest. Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School, Wesley Girls’ High School, and St. John’s Grammar School are among the top contenders, bringing a mix of skill and determination.

The tournament format ensures that the top-ranked schools in each group, along with the best second-placed teams, will advance to the next round — keeping the competition tight and unpredictable.

The 3X3 format, an abridged version of traditional basketball, emphasises speed, strategy, and precision, making it an exciting spectacle for spectators. With the venue set and the groups finalised, the stage is ready for Ghana’s young basketball stars to shine.

The 2025 3X3 Basketball Championship not only promises to crown the best high school teams in the country but also serves as a platform to nurture emerging talent and grow the sport’s popularity in Ghana.
