Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana marked his 23rd birthday in style by scoring a goal, bringing an end to his goal drought in the English Premier League.
The talented player expressed his joy after Southampton’s match against AFC Bournemouth, where his goal served as a consolation in a disappointing 3-1 loss for The Saints. Sulemana’s performance was a bright spot in an otherwise challenging game for his team.
Sulemana’s goal was a much-needed confidence booster, as he had been seeking to find his scoring touch once again. In his post-match comments, he expressed satisfaction with his performance but emphasised his desire to continue scoring and contributing to the team’s success.
“This is my first Premier League goal in two years. I’m glad that the goal came, and hopefully I can add more to the team. The coach has given me confidence, not just the coach but the players who trust in me and try to find me when they come on the pitch,” Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The 23-year-old showcased his skills when he received a well-timed pass from strike partner Paul Onuachu. Positioned at the edge of the penalty box, Sulemana expertly controlled the ball before unleashing a powerful shot that found the back of the net, reducing Southampton’s deficit to 2-1. The goal was a significant moment for Sulemana, as it marked his first in the Premier League since the previous season, where he last scored against Liverpool.
Despite his individual success, the match did not go as planned for Southampton. The team struggled to maintain their composure, and the moment shifted when Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo assisted Marcus Tavernier, who scored the third goal for the home side.
This goal effectively sealed the victory for Bournemouth, leaving Southampton to reflect on their missed opportunities.
