President John Dramani Mahama visited the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium, accompanied by Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, former captain Asamoah Gyan, and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.
The president’s visit served as a morale booster for the team ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
President Mahama assured the players and technical staff of the nation’s full support, emphasising the importance of unity and teamwork.
His visit comes at a critical time, with the Black Stars set to face Chad on Friday, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by Madagascar on March 24.
The team’s performance in these qualifiers will be crucial to their chances of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
The president’s surprise visit was a welcome gesture for the team, who have been under immense pressure to deliver after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Former President Mahama had previously expressed disappointment over the team’s failure.
Despite recent setbacks, the Black Stars are determined to turn their fortunes around, and President Mahama’s visit has provided a much-needed boost to their morale. With the nation’s support behind them, the team is ready to face the challenges ahead and fight for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
