Ghana continued their impressive form in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Madagascar at Le Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima in Morocco on Monday, March 24, 2025. The Black Stars’ dominant performance earned them leadership of Group I with 15 points, courtesy of their fourth successive win. Head coach Otto Addo made two changes to the team that thrashed Chad 5-0 in their previous match, deploying Jerome Opoku and Abu Francis in a 3-5-2 formation.

The Black Stars started strongly, applying pressure on the Madagascar defense from the onset. Their efforts paid off in the 11th minute when Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey rose highest to head Jordan Ayew’s perfectly delivered free-kick past Madagascar goalkeeper Geordan Dupire. Ghana nearly doubled their advantage shortly after, but Mohammed Kudus’ close-range effort was expertly blocked by Dupire. Madagascar struggled to create clear-cut opportunities as Ghana asserted dominance in the game, dictating the rhythm and pace.

Ghana’s dominance continued in the second half, and they extended their lead nine minutes after the restart. Partey added his second goal, heading another Ayew delivery from a corner kick to make it 2-0. The Black Stars continued to press and Kudus sealed the victory with a composed finish after being threaded through by captain Ayew. Madagascar were unable to respond to Ghana’s dominance, as the West Africans cruised to the finish line.

The victory solidifies Ghana’s position as leaders of Group I, and they are now well-placed to guarantee World Cup qualification. With four successive wins, the Black Stars have built momentum and confidence, and they will look to continue their dominant streak in their upcoming matches.

Ghana’s impressive performance was a testament to their teamwork and strategy. Head coach Otto Addo’s tactics paid off, and the players executed their roles to perfection. With this victory, Ghana has taken a significant step towards qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
