A 21-year-old Ghanaian football fan, Mohammed Huzeinu, has been sentenced to 100 days in prison after invading the pitch during Ghana’s match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025.
An Accra District Court handed down the sentence after Huzeinu’s actions disrupted the game, drawing concerns over security and the potential for financial penalties against the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Pitch invasions are considered a serious breach of security, and the GFA has repeatedly urged supporters to respect match-day protocols.
The association has warned that such incidents could lead to fines and harm Ghana’s reputation in international football.
The court’s decision underscores the consequences of pitch invasions, with authorities stressing the need for order and discipline at stadiums. The GFA has maintained that violations of stadium regulations will not be tolerated, and those responsible will face legal repercussions.
Officials have called on supporters to comply with regulations to ensure the smooth running of games and protect the integrity of the sport.
