Ghanaian footballers continued to make waves across the world’s top leagues over the weekend, showcasing their skill and resilience. From European leagues to the American leagues, players like Andre Ayew, Mohammed Fuseini, and Kwasi Wriedt starred in decisive victories, leaving fans worldwide in awe.
In French Ligue 1, Andre Ayew scored a goal and registered an assist for Le Havre in their thrilling 4-3 victory over Lens.
Meanwhile, Augustine Boakye made a brief cameo for St. Etienne, while Ernest Nuamah earned a spot in Lyon’s squad during their 2-1 win over Brest. Back in Belgium, Mohammed Fuseini came off the bench to net a winner for Royale Union SG in their 4-1 triumph over Dender.
Moving to England, Antoine Semenyo played a pivotal role in Bournemouth’s FA Cup progress, while Michael Baidoo featured in Plymouth’s clash against Manchester City. Ghanaian duo Kelvin Abrefa and Andy Yiadom also made significant appearances for Reading in their 2-1 win over Wigan.
Spanish leagues saw Ghanaian talent in action as well. Abdul Mumin appeared for Rayo Vallecano in their 1-1 draw against Sevilla, while Jerry Afriyie made his debut for CD Lugo.
Italy’s Serie A welcomed Caleb Ekuban and Alfred Duncan, who set the stage for Venezia’s draw against Atalanta. Emmanuel Gyasi, meanwhile, played the full match for Empoli in their 1-1 stalemate against Genoa.
In the MLS, Ghanaian stars continued to shine. Forster Ajago scored for Real Salt Lake in their 2-0 defeat of Seattle Sounders, while Mohammed Sofo netted for the New York Red Bulls in their 2-0 win over Nashville SC. Yaw Yeboah and Osman Bukari also impressed in their respective matches.
Ghanaian players also made strides in other regions. In Austria, Emmanuel Agyeman and Paul Mensah played key roles in Wolfsberger AC and BW Linz’s victories. In Greece, Abdul Baba Rahman stood tall for PAOK in their 2-0 win over Asteras Tripolis.
Back on the continent, Samuel Owusu and Zubairu Ibrahim continued their streaks in Serbia, while Kwasi Wriedt and Benjamin Tetteh excelled in Turkey and Slovenia, respectively.
