Bechem United have offered a hefty reward of GHC100,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the murderer of late Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as Nana Pooley.

The tragic death of Nana Pooley has left the Ghanaian football community in shock, and Bechem United is taking a stand against such violence.

The suspect in question, identified as Braimah, has been fingered by the Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, Lawyer Sarfo Duku. Braimah remains on the run, with the Ghana Police Service zealously hunting for him.

The case has garnered significant attention, and the search is intensifying as authorities seek to bring the culprit to justice.

Bechem United released a statement on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, emphasising their resolve in this matter.

“Bechem United FC Takes Bold Stand Against Hooliganism, Offers 𝙂𝙃𝘾 100,000 Reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderer of late Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley),” the statement read.

In the wake of these events, the Ghana Premier League has been temporarily suspended. The decision was made following the traumatic incident that occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2025. The suspension is a reflection of the league’s prioritisation of safety and sanity, as football communities across the nation grapple with grief and outrage.

As part of the broader response to this tragedy, President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, is set to visit Asante Kotoko on Thursday, February 20, 2025. This gesture signifies the association’s support and solidarity with the club during these challenging times. The visit is expected to further intensify efforts to address the root causes of such violence and ensure comprehensive justice.

The uprising incident has sent shockwaves through Ghanaian football, highlighting the need for a united front against hooliganism and misconduct. With Braimah still at large, hopes are pinned on the ongoing manhunt to restore justice and peace in the football community.
