FIFA has officially confirmed that the United States will host the 2031 Women’s World Cup, while the United Kingdom will stage the 2035 edition. This announcement marks a significant milestone for both countries, with the US set to host the tournament for a record third time, and the UK preparing to host its first-ever Women’s World Cup.
The US bid was the only one submitted for the 2031 tournament, while the UK’s bid, which includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, was the sole valid bid for 2035. This will be a historic moment for English football, marking the first World Cup to be played on English soil since the 1966 men’s edition. The UK has previously hosted the women’s European Championship in 2022.
The hosting rights for the 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups were confirmed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino at a UEFA congress on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Brazil is set to host the next Women’s World Cup in 2027, which will be the last to feature 32 teams before the tournament expands to 48 teams in 2031.
The US is poised to become a hub for major sporting events between 2026 and 2034, hosting the men’s World Cup, the Olympic Games, and the Winter Olympic Games.
