The National Media Commission (NMC) is to launch a mobile application “Election Watch” which would authenticate news items produced in the run-up to the December polls.
A member of the National Media Commission, Prince Hari Crystal who disclosed this during a visit by the NMC to GBC, said activities of social media which is creeping into the traditional media gives cause to invest in such technology.
The GJA President, Roland Affail Money, commended Radio Ghana for its good news content and asked journalists to sharpen their sense of professionalism in the lead to the election. He said fairness in election is not determined by what transpires on election Day, but all activities during the year.
Mr. Monney asked journalists to heighten their sense of security in election coverage.
The Chairman of the National Media Commission, Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, asked journalists working with the State Broadcaster for remerging on its mandate.
Director for Advocacy and Policy Engagement, Centre for Democratic Development, CDD, Kojo Pumpuni Asante, said emerging challenges that comes with social media, raises the need for credible media houses such as the GBC, to stem the tide.
He asked the GBC to roll out more voter education.
