The Energy Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy has rolled out an E- mobile initiative as part of the “Drive Electric Initiative” aimed at promoting electric vehicles on Ghana’s roads.

Launching the project in Accra, the Minister of Energy, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, said the initiative would also help to create demand and drive the productive use of excess electricity in the system.

By this, the government intends to increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity generation mix.

Minister for Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, said his Ministry and the Energy Commission, and other private sector players are pursuing an E- mobile initiative as part of the drive.

Besides promoting electric vehicles on Ghana’s roads, the E-mobility initiative, according to the Minister, would also help to reduce vehicular pollution and carbon emissions.
