The Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has hinted that the annual Girls in ICT Day celebrated globally will be institutionalised, allowing for a paradigm shift from the regional competition among mentees to a national level event.

She said schools across the country will have their capacity built and resourced, so as to match up favourably with growing trends in ICT across the globe.

Mrs. Ekuful said this at an ICT Literacy and Awareness Campaign in the Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region.

The Communications Minister noted that in view of the evolving nature of societies and economies, the digitised space must be informed by deliberate and strategic actions to support development.

She noted that the Ministry has taken up the responsibility of training and mentoring girls in ICT as well as teachers to satisfy this need.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful stressed that other ICT infrastructure, including internet connectivity will also be made available to schools to enhance teaching and learning.
