Mobile Communication Company, MTN Ghana has finally offered an explanation for the suspension of its MTN Data Zone bundle effective April 5.
In a press release, the company apologized for not communicating the reason earlier, stating that the suspension was due to a review of the bundle offer in line with the Significant Market Power (SMP) directives.
“The suspension of the innovative Data Zone bundle is due to a review of the bundle offer in line with the Significant Market Power (SMP) directives applied to MTN Ghana in June 2020, not to be the lowest priced on any offer in the industry.”
This review was to ensure that the company is not offering the lowest-priced bundle in the industry.
According to MTN Ghana, it is currently collaborating with the regulator to reinstate a revised Data Zone bundle as soon as possible and will update customers on further developments.
The Data Zone bundle is a 1-day validity bundle that gives customers discounted rates at the point of purchase, and the subscription is through the Short Code 135.
Despite the suspension, MTN Ghana assured customers of its commitment to providing innovative and affordable products and services.
