WhatsApp has added a new feature that lets users include music in their status updates, making them more interactive and engaging.

The feature, currently available for Android beta users (version 2.25.2.5), works similarly to Instagram’s music-sharing option. Users will now see a music icon in the status update section, allowing them to search for songs, artists, or trending tracks.

Once a song is selected, users can add a 15-second clip to a photo-based status or adjust the duration for a video. If added to a video status, the music will play for the same length as the video clip.

Viewers of the status update will hear the song and see its title displayed at the top, making it easy to find more details about the track.

In addition to the music button, the update also includes a crop tool, text option, and pen feature, offering users more ways to customize their status updates.

This update is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience and comes from a partnership between Meta and Universal Music Group.

The collaboration gives users access to a music catalogue, allowing them to choose songs for their status updates.

The feature has been rolled out to Android and iOS users.
