President Akufo-Addo says his vision of making Ghana the aviation hub of Africa will soon be realised.
This follows the ranking of Kotoka International Airport, KIA is the Best Airport in West Africa by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
Speaking at the Annual General Assembly and Regional Conference of Airport Council International, ACI, the President said, government will introduce State of the Art Technology at the Kotoka International Airport and upgrade existing Regional Aerodromes across the country.
The conference brought together 400 high-level participants, including global aviation experts, airport executives and recognized leaders from the public and private sector.
ACI, is a Not-For-Profit organization representing commercial airports worldwide.
It acts as the voice of the world’s airports and the communities they serve and promotes professional excellence in airport management and operations.
President Akufo-Addo said Ghana Aviation has seen considerable growth due to the continues creation of stable socio-political and economic climate.
He said the abolition of the 17.5% VAT on domestic airfare has led to the doubling of domestic air passenger traffic.
He said International airlines also grew by 6% in 2017 adding 2.7 billion dollars to GDP.
He assured the gathering that Ghana’s airports will continue to go systematic phase lift through Infrastructural rehabilitation and hunt of construction additional airports.
Director-General of ACI International, Angela Gittens spoke about the need to have state of the art airports worldwide.
The two-day conference will focus on how to introduce the state of the technology to make the various airports more secured.
