39 students of Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute remanded

The Asokore Mampong District Court in the Ashanti region has remanded 39 students of the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute into custody to reappear on February 2, 2023.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime , unlawful entry , causing damage, and  Stealing.
The 39 are among students of the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute at Asokore in the Sekyere East district of the Ashanti region who were arrested by the Police for allegedly taking part in vandalizing school and private property at the school’s premises last Saturday.
They were on Tuesday, January 24 ,2023, arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime , unlawful entry , causing damage, and  Stealing . Their please were not taken by the Court.
The Counsels,  for the suspects, Kwabena Gyamfi and  Daniel Boateng, advancing their arguments for and on behalf of the accused,  prayed the Court to either grant them bail or remand them into the custody of their own parents. But this plea was opposed by the Prosecutor, who is also Head of the  Legal and Prosecution Unit of the Police Service, ACP Kofi Blagodzi. 
He prayed the Court to remand the accused students to enable the Police continue with their investigations to build their case.
The Magistrate, His Worship Samuel Buaben Quansah, after  taking the opposing arguments,  remanded the 39 accused persons, adding that the 27 of the accused, persons who are juveniles, should be properly kept at the juvenile retention home while the rest should be remanded into Police cells.
He also spoke to the media after the hearing.
The accused students will appear again before the Court on the 2nd February 2023.
