The Accra Metropolitan Assembly AMA, says the annual ban on drumming and noise making will commence from Monday 15th May to Thursday June 15. It says to promote peace, harmony and national security, churches, mosques and pubs as well as organizers of other public events are to carry out their activities within their premises and refrain from playing musical instruments.
The Assembly says it will be wrong for anyone to position loud speakers outside their premises. A statement issued and signed in Accra, by Head of Public Relations, Gilbert Ankrah, directs roadside evangelists to cease their activities during the period.
The statement added there is also a ban on funeral rites and other related activities. It cautions against making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the practice.
It says an identifiable taskforce which comprises personnel from the Assembly, Police Service, representatives from the Traditional Council will ensure compliance of the directive.
The AMA entreats all persons within the Ga Traditional Council to cooperate and comply with the directive during the period.
