A Member of the Volta Regional Concern Citizens and Member of National Democratic Congress, NDC’s Legal Team, Eric Delanyo Alifo has made a case for compensation to be paid to victims of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams spillage.
He said there was negligence on the part of the Volta River Authority, VRA as the spillage was carried out without adequate sensitization.
Mr. Alifo was speaking on our Current Affairs Programme ‘Focus‘ which discussed the havoc caused to communities as a result of the spillage.
He rallied support from all indigenes of the region and Ghanaians in general to pursue the issue of compensation to its logical conclusion.
A member of New Patriotic Party’s, NPP’s National Communication Team, Kwame Bempah Osei-Hwere, called for a national dialogue to avert such problems in future.
He said the issue of compensation at this time may be impossible and cautioned against politicization of the issue.
