Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has denied reports that he has applied for a plea bargain in his ambulance case in Court.

In a statement in Accra, Dr. Ato Forson said the reports which may be emanating from his detractors are without any factual basis and an attempt to create public disaffection for him.

Dr. Ato Forson noted that he has not applied to the Court or the Attorney General’s Department for a plea bargain or out-of-court settlement, adding that he is ready to defend himself.

Dr. Ato Forson said the record shows that he has opened his defense in the trial and has since called some of his witnesses.

He noted that he has maintained his innocence having pleaded not guilty to the charges.

On Thursday, July 27, Dr. Forson’s lawyers moved an application urging the judge to recuse herself from the case.

Dr. Forson’s lawyer, Dr. Abdul Baasit Bamba, argued that it is legally wrong for the judge to hear the motion for ‘recusal’ herself.
