A government spokesperson on the Economy, Manasseh Atta Boahene says President Akufo-Addo was right when he said Ghana is not going back to ‘dumsor’ which was persistent under former President John Dramani Mahama.

President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, 13th June 2023, commissioned the 161 kilovolt GRIDCo, ECG Bulk Power Supply Point, constructed under the Project for the Reinforcement of Power Supply to Accra Central.

At the inauguration of the Power Supply point, the President assured Ghanaians of constant power supply. “I wish to reassure you all that my government will continue to work towards “Keeping the Lights on”, in spite of the global dynamics of energy pricing, because the alternative is not an option. We are not going back to dumsor, we leave that to President Mahama” President Akufo-Addo said.

Speaking to the issue, a government spokesperson on the economy, Manasseh Atta Boahene says Ghanaians remember the hardship they went through under the dumsor era.

“We Ghanaians do not have short memory, we do not easily forget as the former President John Mahama alluded to” he added.

Mr. Manasseh said this on the Breakfast Show on GTV today, (June 14, 2023).

He said that the lives of Ghanaians revolve around electricity which is a basic need. He indicated that businesses in Ghana depend on electricity hence, the President’s statement that Ghana is not going back to dumsor is a step in the right direction.

He added that former President John Mahama is noted for ‘dumsor’ and it is the only social intervention he left Ghanaians with. The economic repercussions he noted, were appalling and believes President Akufo-Addo should be commended for reiterating that Ghana will not go back to its dumsor days.

He lauded President Akufo-Addo for commissioning the 161 kilovolts GRIGCO and ECG bulk supply Power Point saying, it is a good thing and believes Ghanaians would be happy to know that the President is working hard to ensure that Ghana does not go back to the dark days.
