The government has announced an immediate halt to the sale, lease, and processing of transactions involving State and Public Lands across the country. This directive, aimed at preserving these critical national assets for the benefit of current and future generations, comes amid growing concerns over the management and allocation of public lands.

In a statement, the government emphasized the need to safeguard State and Public Lands from potential misuse or mismanagement. “This directive has been issued to protect and preserve these lands for the collective benefit of the citizenry and to ensure they are managed responsibly for future generations,” the statement noted.

The directive mandates an immediate suspension of all ongoing and pending transactions involving public lands. It also requires the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission to submit detailed reports of all recent and ongoing transactions concerning State and Public Lands within 14 days. The government has made it clear that this moratorium is part of a larger effort to review and strengthen the framework governing the use and management of public lands.

The move has been widely welcomed by Ghanaians on social media and policy advocates, who have long called for stricter oversight of public lands to prevent exploitation and ensure sustainable use.

This development highlights the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of State resources.
