A Political Scientist, Dr. Alidu Seidu, has advised the NPP to maintain the status quo where the party elects a Presidential Candidate two years before elections if the party is in opposition, and a year when the party is in power.
The ruling NPP has tabled 38 Proposals for deliberation during its National Delegates Conference.
Key amongst the proposals is to elect a Presidential Candidate two clear years before a major election.
Dr. Seidu explained using the current scenario with the NPP, saying if the party elects a Flagbearer two years before the 2024 general election, government officials who might be contesting in the general election are likely to neglect the government business and focus on political activities.
