The Ghana Private Road Transport Union, GPRTU, is asking passengers to continue paying the old fare until Monday, May 22, 2023.
The Union in a statement earlier in the week, announced a 10% reduction in transports fares effective last Wednesday. Our checks however reveal, that drivers have refused to reduce the fare leading to confrontation with passengers in some instances.
P.R.O of the GPRTU, Abass Imoro told GBC News, that the Union, will come out with a new communique on Monday.
He urged both drivers and passengers to cease all confrontations and wait for the way forward on Monday.
He intimated that proper due diligence was not done before the earlier communication and apologized for it. He could however not tell, if the Union will still announce a reduction in the fare come Monday.
