The Assin-Darmang District Court has remanded Jibril Musa alias Alhaji, 40, herbalist-cum-spiritualist into police custody for allegedly defrauding his patient to the tune of GHC85,000.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of defrauding by pretences at a court presided over by Mrs. Dorinda Smith Arthur.
He will reappear in Court on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo said Madam Mary Oppong, 49, the complainant who is a trader, resides at Assin-Ngresi with the Musa.
The Prosecutor stated that in November 2021, Madam Oppong sent her sick husband to the accused for treatment.
The Prosecutor said during the treatment, the accused told Madam Oppong that he had seen in the spiritual realm that her late father hid some gold treasures in one of their lands at Assin Ochiso.
The Prosecutor said Madam Oppong, excited by the news, called her family and friends for them to contribute to buying items for the rituals upon the request of Musa.
After waiting patiently for months in vain, the Prosecutor said Madam Oppong pressured the accused person for the refund of the money, but it yielded no results leading to his arrest.
