The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has observed that the nationwide town hall meeting and exhibition exercises are integral to her Ministry’s mandate to disseminate government information to citizens.

Speaking at the Eastern Regional Town Hall Meeting and Exhibition held at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital, Madam Abubakar highlighted that the initiative also offers the government an opportunity to gather public feedback to help shape policy.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability. She noted that the Town Hall meeting is part of the government’s broader agenda to ensure that citizens are well-informed about the initiatives being undertaken to improve their livelihoods.

On his part, the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, also took the opportunity to outline some of the developmental projects currently ongoing in the region. He mentioned the construction of roads, schools, and health facilities as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents.

Organised by the Information Ministry, the town hall series is aimed at showcasing  the government’s achievements under the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia-led administration and enhancing citizen engagement by providing a platform for dialogue between government officials and the public. A key feature of the event was the exhibition centre, where 33 municipal and districts within the Eastern Region showcased their respective projects and initiatives.

The meeting, which brought together government officials, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and residents of the region, provided a platform for the dissemination of information on the state of the region’s development. It also allowed the public to voice their concerns and seek clarifications on issues affecting them. The Town Hall meeting is part of a nationwide series of engagements aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and ensuring that citizens are actively involved in the development process.
