Poultry farmers in the Krachi West Municipality in the Oti region have applauded the Savannah Investment project for giving them a new life after they were supply with poultry.
The Savannah Investment project has given over 50 beneficiaries 200 poultry. The farmers who were happy and could not hide their joy called on the government to support them by supplying them with more of birds.
Some of the farmers who shared their thoughts.
“I have stopped farming and this is the only work I survive on. I can now buy my kids books and school uniforms”.
Some who also engage in backyard gardening use the droppings of the birds as fertilizer in their farms.
The Municipal Agric Director, Mr. Atta Adusei commended the SIP (Savannah Investment project) for the project.
Municipal Chief Executive, MCE, Emmanuel Kajal Jalula appealed to government to support the Municipality with more poultry birds.
The Municipality has only one veterinary officer and this has been a worry to the farmers.
The veterinary officer, Mr. Marcus appealed to government to send in more veterinary officers so they can help fight diseases affecting the birds.
