President Akufo-Addo reaffirms commitment to justice for Ahmed Suale

 President Nana Akufo-Addo has reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring that the killers of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale are brought to justice.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 3rd African Media Convention in Accra, President Akufo-Addo while assuring of a peaceful elections later in December this year also assured that justice for the slain journalist and his family will be achieved  regardless of the time it takes.

Ahmed Suale, who was known for his investigative work with Tiger Eye PI, was murdered in January 2019 after allegedly being exposed to hate speech by Member of parliament for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong on national television. The president’s remarks underscores ongoing efforts by the security agencies to resolve the case and deliver justice.

“……I assure you that Ghana’s image as a beacon of democracy on the African continent will not be diminished in this year’s elections.  it will be fully safeguarded as efforts by the security agencies to bring the killers of Ahmed Suale to book continues no matter how long it takes.”, President Akufo-Addo emphasized during his address, highlighting his administration’s unwavering dedication to protecting journalists and upholding the rule of law.

The African Media Convention, which brought together media professionals from across the African  continent, concluded with a renewed call for the safety and protection of journalists, in light of Suale’s tragic death.
