The spillage of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams has submerged some communities, markets, properties and businesses worth millions of cedis in the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions.

The affected communities include Akateng market, Atimpoku, Amedeka, Kadjanya, Dormeliam, parts of Asutuare and Volivo.

Cassava and maize farms along the river banks have also been swept away by the water while fish cages set on the river by some individual fish farmers and companies have been carried away.

According to the residents living along the area, if the situation continues, it will bring economic hardship to the area since fish farming is their only source of livelihood.

Some of the affected victims who have relatives in the nearby communities vacated their homes and settled with them while those without relatives are still in the area. They therefore appealed to NADMO and Ghanaians to come to their aid.
