Staff and students from the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management of the Tamale Technical University, TTU, have hailed Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak, for putting the spotlight on Tamale, and the Northern Region at large.
According to them, the Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon, has directed heavy traffic to the region, Africa and in the International scene.
The team said this when they visited Chef Failatu, to congratulate her for her endurance and dedication as she tries to set an unbreakable record.
To this effect, the group presented a citation of honor for her exceptional culinary journey so far.
A member of the team, Alhassan Yahaya, in an interview with GBCNews, said there has been an increase in various business activities since the event commenced adding that, a lot of people have visited Tamale for the first time because of the Cook-A-Thon.
He emphasized that the tourism sector can leverage on opportunities like the Cook-A-Thon to market and sell the country to the rest of the world.
Mr. Alhassan used the opportunity to admonish students in the hospitality and tourism industry to study hard and take advantage of their professions to make a difference.
Chef Failatu is expected to finish on Wednesday, January 10th with a 240 cooking hours record. As at the time of filling this report, she had covered 205 hours, 32 minutes.
