The strike by three unions of the University for Development Studies (UDS), is yet to be called off despite the payment of July salaries, which was one of the major reasons for the strike.

Executives of the unions say they met with management on Friday, August 12, to discuss other outstanding concerns.

The three unions are the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), Senior Staff Association (SSA), and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU).

GBC news sources at the UDS say GAUA is meeting its members on Monday, August 15, to provide feedback on the outcome of their meeting with management on Friday.

The executives of the UDS branch of the Senior Staff Association are expected to meet their members on Tuesday, August 16.

The migration of staff onto the Controller and Accountant General’s mechanised payroll system is another issue of concern. The striking unions are unhappy that management took a unilateral decision to migrate staff.

There are fears that some staff may receive lower pay under that system.
